Mama's have trouble too!

So yesterday I had one of those "not thinking, total scare" moments. Nat and I had gone out shopping and returned after his nap time should have started. Since it was cold I decided I could go inside with him get him settled into his nap before I unloaded the car, this of course answers 2 problems, unloading the car and what do I do with the child. Anyway, we did all the preliminary work, diapers, drink, cuddle and down for his nap. I then walked outside to unload the car and the moment the door clicked I realized I had just locked myself out of the house.! YES locked the new door, with the new locks that allow the door to open from inside, but are still locked outside. Grandma is in California, A is at work, so are most of the neighbors. The cell phone is inside with the keys and the child, finally I see that one of our neighbors is home, so I run over to his house and ask to borrow the phone, but I also have to asked for a directory to find a phone number. Luckily we are remodeling the house with a friend of the family, so I call and see if he is available to bring his key and let me in, saving hours of waiting for A to get off work and get back to the house. The whole episode probably took 15 minutes, but for a few moments it could have lasted an eternity. My only saving grace in the panic department was that I knew Nat was safe in his crib, and probably didn't even know I wasn't there, plus if this was one of those times when he felt like screaming I was missing it all. Once I got inside and checked on him he was sound asleep.

A of course doesn't believe that I was calm and wishes that he had a camera to watch the frantic pregnant mother run down the road to make the phone call. I on the other hand am very glad there was no camera because I can still say I was very calm under the circumstance, but I hope it NEVER happens again.

Oh my...this happened to us when Aubrey was 2 months old. We went out to play in the snow and Jared didn't check the lock before he told the kids to shut it. Our garage door was locked and we had no way in. A lock smith and $65 later we were inside. Aubrey was sound alseep in her bouncer. Needless to say mom and dad did not have fun in the snow. I think the boys did though.
