Baby Girl

Baby Veora arrived this morning. She weighed in at 7lbs 9oz and is 21 in long. Momma and Baby are both doing amazing, Brothers seem to love her and Papa is enchanted (as we knew he would be). She seems to have red hair and long fingers and toes.

I am going to follow others before me, I have posted a few pictures for those of you who want to just see this beautiful little angel, but anyone wanting to read the story can continue to scroll down.

The Labor Story: Its a good one!

I began having consistent contractions around 8pm last night. A and I sat down to play a game while I timed for awhile and was willing to admit that I could go to the hospital (I really didn't want to get there and be sent home). We timed for about an hour and then decided to drive on up, it took another 30-40 minutes to gather all the last minute things, get a priesthood blessing and be on our way. We arrived at the hospital around 10:30 pm. I was checked over and the doctor decided to let me stay even though I was only dilated to a 4 and my contractions weren't really strong even though they were really consistent. A and I got settled in, took a stroll around the floor when the nurse came in to tell us my Group B strep test had come back negative and now I needed to take penicillin and they wanted everything to allow the 4 hour time frame if possible. My thoughts "4 hours, I wanted to have this baby by 4 am" needless to say they asked me not to do anything that would push the labor forward, and they chose not to break my water. I settled down for a long winters nap (actually to Phantom of the Opera and rest). A curled up on the couch and slept as well as you can in a hospital while I dozed off and on, never getting comfortable and noticing that not a lot of activity was going on. 1 am rolled around, 2 am, 3 am and 4. At 4 the penicillin was in long enough they were willing to start me on pitocin to get things active again. It worked to bring back contractions, but they remained relatively light. Around 6:30 the nurse came back to inform me that A) if I wanted an epidural I had to have it now as the anesthesiologist was going into a surgery and wouldn't be available for over an hour. B) my doctor was coming in to do a check and break my water. Since I wasn't in pain I chose to forgo the epidural knowing we were quite some time away from delivery still. After all these hours I was still only at a 4.5 . This had been the longest night.

My doctor arrived at 7:20am, did an exam and broke my water. He was done around 7:30am. My contractions began to get severe immediately and I was mad at myself for not going ahead with the epidural when I had a chance. The contractions peaked but were quickly to the point where they never really stopped. A was being a great support and coach, while both of us knew it was only a matter of minutes before I started going loony as I do with the intense pain. Another couple of minutes passed my nurse came in and check on my, told us she would be next door if we needed anything, the Dr had chosen to stay for a few minutes before leaving just to see how everything was going, but he was out at the front desk. I told A I had a real urge to push and so he call buttoned for the nurse, while I started pushing because I couldn't help it. The Dr. popped his head in, we told him what was going on and he turned to call the nurse, when I could feel the baby coming, I screamed, yelled, hollared (I am not ashamed to admit it) once, and the baby was there. She had arrived at 7:53am. She is perfect, we are recovering very fast, she has a nice bruise all across her forehead from her race down the canal, but it was all worth it.

The boys came to her and are very excited right now about Sister, we will see how they react when she gets home.
