Keeping Busy

I will be the first to admit that I'm pretty happy as a home body. I usually don't mind if I don't do anything or go anywhere for weeks. I hate shopping unless I need something specific, add 3 children and I avoid it even more. That being said I know the boys get really bored at our house, especially on the rainy cold days when they can't go outside at all, even on good days they are still learning all the things that they can do out side (mostly its reserved for digging, all running and chasing and throwing still gets done in the house).

So I am working on this trait of mine and built myself a box with my weekly chores, which include one major cleaning project, one scripture to memorize and one outing with the kiddos. Since I implemented this we have done really good with getting out, it's only one day and I seem to be able to manage that and we've had some real good fun.

FARM: as you may know we love the farm, the boys love the tractors, but this day I let them walk instead of being in the stroller and we had more fun with everything. We stopped to look at all the animals, rode a couple of the tractors and played in the tree house.

ZOO: We have a pass to the zoo, and last year we made it several times (more than Bug wanted to go, he hated the roaring dinosaurs), enough to make the pass worth it, but this year I want to go even more often, the boys are really into the animals and without the dino's they enjoy it more. We have already been twice since Rory was born, but this last time was the best. We bought a new wagon, one with seat belts when needed, but the boys wanted to walk more and were able to get in and out as they felt compelled. Because of the ease of the wagon we also went a few more places and saw more things. The gorillas were our favorite this time.
We went into the building to see all the big apes, and this one was over in the corner eating breakfast when Bug waived. (there was no one else around at the time). The gorilla promptly got up and came right over to the glass to say hello back. Both of the boys interacted well and weren't too loud, but pretty soon everyone else came over and we got out of the way. It was cool to think that it was interested in my little boys saying hi.
Bug really got into the whole experience of looking at the extra things around the zoo. It was really fun!!!
