We adopted Elphaba in the spring of 2005. We had fallen in love with the musical "Wicked" and I thought that Elphaba (the wicked witch of the west) would be a perfect name for a black cat with GREEN eyes. A began searching the shelters for me and found her once again while I was flying. She is absolutely beautiful with a long, sleek body and longer tail. However her personality is a little princess. She rarely engages in the games of the other animals and looks down on them from her perch. She always wants to be noticed and petted, but never cuddled and doesn't recognize that we have to touch her to giver her a head scratch. She is very shy of people, most visitors never know we have another cat, she hides until they leave. However, during the last few months of pregnancy (we think) she notices the changes and loves to lay curled up in my arms as I sleep at night, it might just be that she thinks all pillows are hers, and I have a lot of them. She survived the road trip of the move to Kentucky but we don't think she ever recovered, but her mood has improved, for the most part, after the adoption of Percy. She doesn't like to be alone. We love having her around, even though she isn't as funny as some others, but she can play fetch better than any dog I know. She catches pony tail holders and brings them back to us, we flipped them across the room, she finds them and will bring them back. We are glad we have one animal that understand how to play fetch, since the dog doesn't.
Next up Percy...
