Zarahemla

We adopted Zarahemla "Zara" at Christmas of 2004. A had always wanted a dog, and most specifically a black lab, he happened to find her one day, while I was away flying, and fell in love with her. The moment that I got home he dragged me to the animal shelter to see her so that I would approve of the adoption. Of course I fell in love with her too and we took her home. We put her in puppy kindergarten, and she learned many things, but her hyper personality kept her from meeting her full potential. As she has grown into her body we realized that she was actually a mix of labrador and grey-hound, 2 high maintenance breeds. After 4 years of puppyhood, she is slowly growing up. She is well behaved around the house and likes to play with the cats. She is learning to just make herself comfortable in a room and not have to follow us everywhere. She loves walks, and running (we wish we had a fenced yard), but she hates to be alone. We are excited to bring home a little boy, so that they can be "pals".

We named her Zarahemla, after the city in the Book of Mormon, a name I have loved forever, but A would never approve for a child. The name is actually quite appropriate for her. When she is good she is very very good, and when she is bad she is wicked.

Happy birthday to Zara who will officially be 4 this week.

up next Elphaba...
