We have invited a young man (K) to live with us for the unforeseeable future. K is 17 years old and will be heading into his senior year of high school. He is from Marriott/ Slaterville area in Utah and we are delighted to have him.
He has fallen into the pattern of our lives with very little effort. The younger children already adore him, and other than learning to be a parent to a teenager over night the transition hasn't been too bad. We also took in a dog as part of the package deal and the children really think they are in heaven with this addition. The puppy, D'ziel, was just a few weeks old, so we have been in the impatient world of house training and chew control, but we are slowly beginning to see the progress. The children still have to learn to be gentle and not tease, they don't fully understand those concepts on any level, but he seems good with the children and they will learn to be good with him.
As is typical Sissy is the glue for it all, she is the favorite with the dog, she loves K to bits and if he is sitting still she is sitting with him.
Also we have started, and almost finished our first round of swim lessons...
The boys have done amazingly well, considering the fact that day 1 Baba refused to even touch the water. This is really just the baby course, learning to feel safe in the water, blowing bubbles and kicking and moving their arms. Now they both seem to be doing well with those few skills. Baba still doesn't like to get his face wet, but Bug seems to be turning into a regular fish.
