Cookies and Parties

So I knew we had several times over the holidays when we would need or want cookies, plus I can't image Christmas without candy cane cookies and all the rest. The kids were a help this year and I think they had fun decorating and rolling and playing with cookies in general.

I will admit the child cookies were lovingly eaten at home, while the "nice" cookies were shared with others, but they all tasted the same, YUMMY GOODNESS. And now back to the running regiment...

I also finally got my gingerbread house made, every year for the last 5 I have meant to get it done. From scratch and I prefer to use spun sugar, but each year disaster occurs and the gingerbread house ends up in the garbage and I end up in tears, so I decided on the "whimsical Santa Chalet" and listened to A when he told me to just do what every other American does and work with the royal icing. (It takes much longer and I had to redo it a few times, but it got done). Maybe I can do the sugar next year.

I also hosted our extended family Christmas Party, I am sure we broke fire code with all of the family in the house, but it was so fun to have everyone together (and really I love hosting parties).
