We started the day by going to my sister's for Brunch, it was a fun little affair with Christmas crackers and yummy food, then we worked our way back to our house by dropping off presents to family members we wouldn't see again before Christmas. We stopped to get "cheap" gas, did a couple of last minute shopping trips for food items, gifts and medicine. We eventually made it back to the house mid afternoon to have just enough time for a little rest before making dinner.
We had a quiet family dinner (enchiladas and burritos) before bringing out the Christmas Pajama's, reading the stories, singing carols and going to bed.
Sunset Christmas eve (green grass) it was even prettier but I missed the moment grabbing the camera.
sickness has abounded in our house this week, by dinner Rory was feverish and exhausted.
This is probably the only year in our entire child rearing time that Christmas eve was this relaxing. We got our Christmas jammies on and then sang a few carols, read my favorite Christmas story, watched Luke 2 and sent the kids to bed, who all fell asleep instantly. (Seriously they were in bed and asleep by 7:15pm). Santa visited by 8pm. We had a kitchen that needed assembly from Grandma N., so A and I turned on "its a wonderful life" and we were in bed by 10:30pm.
I admit it was a restless night, all the children woke up at least once, but because they didn't feel well, not because they were anxious about presents...
