Day 3-4 Ferry boat

We left Bellingham, WA on July 24 and headed north. We actually got onto the ferry at almost 9:00 pm. So we took the kids up to the deck to watch the cast off, of course it was dark and raining so they didn't enjoy it much. We settled ourselves into bed, and since we could we had reserved a 4-bed berth for our family. My parents had the 2-bed berth next door.

The kids actually slept really well on the boat, I was surprised. Over all the ferry was a fun and mostly uneventful part of our trip. The children were mostly well behaved, but always refused to put on a jacket, so they wouldn't stay outside on the decks and enjoy the ocean breeze or be patient enough to watch for animals with Grandpa, but they still enjoyed the ferry.

We only had one section of open water, which meant that we had waves and bumps for about 2 hours, needless to say everyone felt a little nauseous but we survived and the rest of the trip remained on the inside passage.

Most of the time we just ate at the snack bar, but one night they did a nice buffet in the restaurant, so we had to try it. It was good.

Our first stop, Sunday morning, July 26 we stopped in Ketchikan, AK.  Mom, Sissy and I got off the boat for a little bit.

In the afternoon we stopped in St. Petersburg, AK everyone got off for a little walk around.
When we weren't on deck, or taking a little walk on the shore, we played a lot of card games, played with the new toys, colored pictures and just had fun.
Grandma made the ferry trip even better by bringing surprises for everyone, the boys got "mixels" and Sis got a magnetic doll and little figurines.
but we survived and the rest of the trip remained on the inside passage.

Highlights of the Ferry
1) Getting a treat from the vending machine.
2) Seeing whales jump
3) Views, beauty everywhere
4) The kids actually behaved themselves.
5) Mixels!
