Both mornings that we were in Whitehorse I was able to get in a really good walk. The first morning I meant to just walk around the campground but found an outlet that took me to a well maintained path on the river. A little way down I found a sign that said it was just 5k, so I decided to follow the whole route. I of course didn't take my camera, but the next morning I did take my camera and stayed closer to the campground.
When I got back to camp we had breakfast, cleaned up and got back on the road. We were heading south, with a few places we wanted to see, but no set destination.
We saw our first of 2 bears on the road that day.
We stopped at Watson Lake, which boasts the Sign Post Forrest (80,000 signs from all over the world). We did look for signs that might mean something to us or our relations.
Plus there were more big machines to climb on.
We continued down the road where we saw some bison, and more rain. We stopped for dinner, at mile 533, service might have been lacking and I payed a small fortune for a grilled cheese sandwich. As it continued to rain we finally decided not to camp and found a lodge. The price wasn't too bad, our little family stayed in a cabin, while the grandparents had a room in the lodge itself.
mile 533
I would love to come back to this lodge for a vacation all by itself.
